Who is responsible

The operator named in the legal notice is responsible for data processing on this site. You can reach us at the email address given there.

Server logs

The site runs on a server rented from netcup GmbH in Karlsruhe, Germany, which processes data on our behalf.

We keep no access log: the web server does not record your IP address, the address you requested or your browser. Error messages of our own software go to a log on the server that is limited in size and replaced with every new release. They contain no IP address.

Error reports

When our server software fails, it sends an error report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), stored in the European Union, so that we learn about the failure. A report names the failing part of our software and the path of the page. We remove the IP address, cookies, browser details and the text after the question mark of the address before it is sent. Sentry processes these reports on our behalf.

Protection against misuse

To protect the site from automated mass requests, we count requests per IP address for a period between one minute and one day. The counters are deleted automatically afterwards (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Popularity of games

To order search results, we count how often a game page is opened and how often a link to a store is followed. So that one visitor counts only once per game and hour, we store a shortened, keyed hash of your IP address together with the game and the hour, for at most two hours. After that only a number per game remains, which has no relation to you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Searches without results

If a search finds nothing, we store the search text in a simplified form (lowercase letters, digits and spaces) together with the calendar week, to learn which games or names are missing. This record is deleted after 35 days. The most frequent of these search texts of a week also appear in a weekly report to the operator, which can be kept longer. We store no IP address, no user agent and no time of day with it. Please do not type personal information into the search field.

Cookies

We set no cookies until you change a setting. If you switch the currency or turn on “Official stores only”, we store that choice in a cookie (fmk_currency, fmk_official) for up to one year, so that the next page looks the same.

These cookies contain nothing but the setting and are only set at your request, so they need no consent (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete them in your browser at any time.

No content from third parties

Our pages load no scripts, fonts, images or other content from third parties. The font is served from our own server. We use no analytics and no advertising networks.

Steam data

Game data and Steam prices come from the Steam Web API and the public Steam store. Our server requests them. Your browser does not contact Steam while you use findmeakey. findmeakey is not affiliated with Valve.

Links to stores

When you follow a link to a store, we count the click per offer and day. This counter holds nothing about you. The click also counts towards the popularity of the game, with the short-lived pseudonym described under “Popularity of games”. The store, and the affiliate network it uses, then process your data under their own privacy policies. The link tells them that you came from findmeakey.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and the right to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. To exercise these rights, write to the email address in the legal notice. We make no automated decisions about you.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one responsible for your place of residence.
